XLGas Dynamics is a library of commonly used one-dimensional, steady compressible flow functions. The functions available in this toolbox are those which are commonly introduced during the first course on compressible fluid mechanics. It is designed to be used to build up a set of rules which govern 1D compressible flow including area change, friction, heating, mass addition, and shock waves including combinations of each. These functions provide the ability to model and solve systems of compressible flow equations which form the basis of the "rules" that govern the behavior of compressible fluid flows.

These rules can then be combined with other system rules and solved using numerical methods. The user can determine either the rate of heat transfer across a solid surface due to conduction given certain input parameters or the value of an input parameter required to attain a specified rate of heat transfer due to conduction.

The functions in this toolbox can be used for flows which can be approximated by one-dimensional flow streams. They can be combined with other SpreadsheetWorld XLToolboxes to support rapid system modeling of flows through thermal engines, through ducts, over shapes, etc. The functions are based on those models found in the reference textbook, written by the Co-Author of the XLGas Dynamics Toolbox, Dr. Joe Hoffman. The reference textbook is Gas Dyamics, Volume 1, Zucrow and Hoffman, John Wiley, 1976.
